Dr. jillian Maxcy-Brown Jillian Maxcy-Brown is currently a Postdoctoral Research Fellow with Dr. Elliott’s research group. She earned a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from the University of Alabama and a B.S. in Engineering with a Civil concentration from LeTourneau University. Her research interests primarily focus on water and wastewater management for underserved, low-resource communities. Her dissertation research analyzed the scope and impacts of inequitable access to safely managed sanitation throughout the U.S., evaluated the mechanisms utilized to collect wastewater access data in the U.S., and assessed the affordability of wastewater access for customers of sewer utilities and users of onsite wastewater treatment systems in Alabama. She is currently working on analyzing drinking water access affordability in Alabama and partnering with Alabama Rivers Alliance to develop policy advocacy efforts for addressing the wastewater access inequities in Alabama. Her research was recently awarded the Excellence in Community-Engaged Scholarship Award for Engaged Scholarship by University of Alabama’s Council on Community-Based Partnerships. She also serves as a member of the National Onsite Wastewater Recycling Association (NOWRA)’s Emerging Professionals Committee.
